I paint to capture the spirit of a moment, from the intimate shadow a branch and leaf create to the wide, open expanse of the Long Island Sound on a summer day.  I am fascinated by the way the light moves through the seasons and the vibrant colors it reflects. My plein-air color palette changes by season from the luscious spring green infused with yellow for just the blink of the eye, to the rich russets and oranges of the fall.  I find myself drawn again and again to the shapes, colors, textures of heirloom tomatoes, pears with leaves still on their stems and bouquets of blossoms attempting to capture the vibrancy of their colors
